This expresses the total number of miles estimated covered by each transport mode as a % of the total distance covered by all transport modes. It was calculated by the Bulmer Foundation based on DfT data

% distance covered on major roads by bicycle per year in Herefordshirecsv
This was calculated by the Bulmer Foundation from DfT data. This is not a measure of the amount of cycling in the county (since it only covers major roads). However it is proposed as an indicator since, if people cycle more in the county this figure is likely to rise, if people cycle less this figure is likely to lessen.

% traffic from buses or coaches in herefordshire per yearcsv
This is not a measure of the use of public transport since it includes coaches, excludes trains, only covers major roads and measures miles covered without reference to occupancy. We are proposing to use it as an indicator because, if bus use increases this figure is likely to increase, if bus use decreases, this figure is likely to decrease
